Uniform cross-sections
Cross-sections should always be as uniform as possible: this helps to prevent distortions due to heating/cooling gradient differentials between masses. In case of variation of the cross-section, the following rule should be observed: increase the cross-section by 50% along a linear section of a length equal to 3 times the cross-section in question. (e.g. Cross-section: vary from 5mm to 7.5mm along a linear section of 15mm).
